Aitutaki is remote by design. The journey begins with an international flight to Rarotonga, the gateway of the Cook Islands, followed by a short 45-minute but spectacular domestic hop over turquoise waters to Aitutaki Lagoon.
Step 01
Rarotonga International Airport (RAR) is the Cook Islands’ only international gateway. Direct flights arrive from New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Tahiti and Fiji.
Our concierge can assist with coordinating your onward connection to Aitutaki or arrange a night on Rarotonga if you prefer to break the journey.
Step 02
The domestic flight from Rarotonga to Aitutaki is operated by Air Rarotonga, the Cook Islands’ national carrier. It is one of the most scenic short flights in the South Pacific.
In under an hour you will descend over the lagoon’s famous coral reef and 15 tiny motu islets — your first glimpse of the water that brought you here.
FLYING TO AITUTAKI:
Kia Orana, We are pleased to advise that the renovation and enhancement works on Villas 1, 2 and 3 at Aitutaki Escape Resort & Spa have now been successfully completed. As part of our ongoing development programme, we will shortly commence construction of Villas 4 and 5 on the adjacent property. Construction is scheduled to take place from 1 June to 15 July 2026, with working hours limited to 9:00am – 5:00pm daily.
To ensure minimal impact on the guest experience, comprehensive safety barriers and privacy screening will be installed to fully separate the construction area from guest-accessible spaces. In addition, many building components will be pre-fabricated offsite and assembled on-site, significantly reducing construction noise and disruption. Our team will continue to closely monitor guest comfort and satisfaction throughout this period and will take all reasonable measures to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing stay for all visitors. We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming guests to an even more luxurious Aitutaki Escape Resort & Spa in the near future.
Warm regards,
Thomas Thomas Koteka & The Team Aitutaki Escape Resort & Spa
